About the Event

CHES Mom, Shannon Silvernail, has created a field trip to the NC Zoo in Asheboro, NC, for Environmental Science Courses.  

This trip is open to several homeschool groups and has been shared with CHES.  This trip is limited to students in Upper Middles School and High School (Age 12 and up).  $10 per student.  Please note that if you sign up for this, you are responsible for payment regardless of attendance.

Age Requirement: Upper Middle and High school students (Age 12 and up)

Cost:  $10 per student 

Capacity: 30 students (already limited on sign up)

The NC Zoo will be providing two courses for our upper Middle and High school students.  The courses are based upon the NC high school's Earth and Environmental Science requirement 2.4 and 2.7 (see explanation below).

COURSE INFORMATION: 

Wetlands and Water Quality:  EEn2.4 (Evaluating the Uses of Water) EEn.2.4.1 Evaluate human influences on freshwater availability. EEn2.4.2 Evaluate human influences on water and quality in North Carolina's river basins, wetlands and tidal environments. And explore organisms that can be found in different water environments.  

Biodiversity in Biospheres: EEn2.7 The effect(s) of the Lithosphere, Hydrosphere, and Atmosphere on the Biosphere EEn2.7.1 Explain how abiotic and biotic factors interact to create the various biomes in North Carolina. EEn2.7.2 Explain why biodiversity is important to the biosphere. . EEn2.7.3 Explain how human activities impact the biosphere. An emphasis will be on biodiversity and bioindicator species such as salamanders.  

Cost: $10 per student Age Requirement: 12 and above Click for External Sign-up.   

Shannon Silvernail will collect the $10 at the zoo when checking in.  SEPTEMBER 15TH WILL BE THE SIGN-UP AND WITHDRAWAL DEADLINE. Please note, you are responsible for payment regardless of attendance.
