About the Event

For the 2022-2023 School year, meetings will ​​be held at the Bible Tabernacle on HWY 22 in the downstairs fellowship hall.  We will typically meet from 1-2:30pm on the 2nd Thursday of the Month.

Thank you to those who stepped up to make book club happen as teachers, helpers and substitutes!

​​PreK-​Kindergarten with Jessica Carr, Lindsi Hill, and Jennifer Howarth:  Students will be reading a book in class, followed by a craft/snack. A $1 donation per child is appreciated for supplies each class.  We need an RSVP each month to prepare for crafts/snacks.  

1st-3rd Grades with Tiffany Francis and Chelsea Roberts:  Students will be reading a book in class, followed by a craft​ ​or snack.​ We need an RSVP each month to prepare for crafts/snacks.

​4th-6th Grades with Deana Dyer and David Miedema:  ​​​​Students will ​re​ad ​their book selection ​prior to coming to book club and will discuss it in class.  You may read the book to your child, they can listen to it on audiobook, or they may read it on their own.

September - The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom (available on Hoopla) - reading this along with the older class and hoping for a field trip to go along with it. 

October - The Magician's Nephew by CS Lewis (available on Hoopla) 

November - C.S. Lewis:  Master Story Teller by Geoff and Janet Benge (YWAM) -  reading this along with the older class  

December - A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens (Free on Audible) 

January - Song for a Whale by Lynne Kelly 

February - Ginger Pye by Eleanor Estes ( available on Hoopla) 

March - Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O'Dell (available on Hoopla) 

April - The Kingdom Dawn by Chuck Black (Hoopla) 

May - Resistance by Jennifer Neilsen (Hoopla)

7th-12th Grades* with Barbee Decker and Vanessa Fagan:  Students will ​re​ad ​their book selection ​prior to coming to book club and will discuss it in class.

*Based on the number of students that sign up for this age group, we are willing to split the group up for 7th-9th graders and 10-12th graders, but we need to know what the need is.  Pplease send an email to ches.homeschoolinggroup@gmail.com to let us know if you have children in this age group.
