About the Event

This trip is now full, but feel please sign up for the wait list.  If there is enough interest, we will create an additional tour on a different day.

Join other CHES Families to tour JAARS.  The Jungle Aviation and Radio Service is a non-profit organization that helps organizations around the world get practical, day-to-day support for Bible translation. As of November 2012, JAARS focuses on five main types of practical support: aviation, land transportation, water transportation, information technology, and media.

If your family is participating in the CHES book club, this field trip lines up perfectly with the book we will be reading in November, Betty Greene, Wings to Serve by Geoff and Janet Benge.  Betty Greene was a pilot with Mission Aviation Fellowship!

Our tour is from 9:30-12noon.  The tour is mostly outside and does include walking on their campus.  So, please be prepared for that!  JAARS recommends bringing kids old enough to understand the concept of Bible translation and how God's Word has transformed people's hearts. So the age could be K - older. But if toddlers come with their families, it will be the parents responsibility to watch them. :)

Masks are not required at JAARS at this time.  If that changes, we will give you an update.

JAARS does require that we give them a list of the names in advance of everyone that will be on their campus from our group.  So, please list them in your RSVP.  This tour is capped at 40 people total including adults and children.  We are adding a "wait list".  If there is enough interest for two separate tours, we will set up an additional tour on a different day.

JAARS has a cafe that we can purchase lunch from or we can pack our own lunches.  The menu is posted below so you have an idea of what the choices and prices are.  When you sign up, please let us know if you want to purchase food there.  We have to let them know in advance if we plan to purchase food.

After lunch, feel free to stay and tour the Alphabet Museum or the Mexico Museum on campus.  The Alphabet museum at JAARS is the only one in the US that presents the trace history of writing systems, from the ancient world to today. It will provide a close look at the heart of our work—language, culture, and Bible translation.
