CHES Tobacco Farm Life Museum, Kenly, NC

Join other CHES families at the Tobacco Farm Life Museum in Kenly, NC.  You can read more about it on their website and Facebook page.  We will be the only ones at the Museum on the day of our tour.  It is not open to the public that day.

Step back in time as you enjoy their museum and grounds.  Stop and sit a spell on their front porch before touring the 6,000 square foot gallery.  The gallery features permanent and rotating exhibits on farrm life including southern medicine, domestic skills, rural social life, textiles, early transportation and much more.  The historic buildings on site include the original Iredell Brown Homestead with detatched kitchen, a tobacco barn, a smokehouse, and a one-room schoolhouse from a nearby community, as well as reconstructions of a packhouse and working blacksmith shop.  

They have many picnic tables.  We are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch and stay as long as we want.  

The costs: 

$14.95 per student (over 2) - this is $15.71 to include PayPal Fees.  The cost covers admission, making a hand dipped candle, and doing Heritage Games (Marbles, Hopscotch, Tug of War, Horseshoes, and sidewalk chalk).  

$5.34 per adult - this is $5.81 to include PayPal Fees.  This cost just covers admission.  If adults wish to make their own hand dipped candle, please ask when you get there and see if you can pay the $2.14 in person that the candles cost.  We are only collecting the candle fees for the children.  

This field trip will be capped at 25 students.   We will break into two groups while we are there.  We will utilize a waiting list.  If we have enough people on the waiting list, we will make a second offering of this field trip.
