Francis Steel Welding Class Ages 12+ (Not a CHES Only Event)

WELDING PRESENTATION FALL 2024

·  Date: Saturday, October 5, 2024

o  Ages 12 and older: 8:00am - 12:00pm

o  Ages 5-11: 1:00pm – 3:30pm

LOCATION:

·  Francis Steel Inc shop, 240 crestline lane, Aberdeen, NC (Signs will be on HWY 211 at Francis Steel Inc’s driveway)

GENERAL INFORMATION:

·  Parents, grandparents, older siblings, or guardians are encouraged to attend the class and, as time permits, will be given the opportunity to participate in the “hands on”.

·  A parent, grandparent, or guardian must sign a waiver for students under the age of 18.

·  There is no cost for this class.

·  Participants may take pictures and videos.

·  Refreshments and restrooms will be provided.

·  Class attire is:

o  Closed toed footwear and long pants.

o  Clothing that may get dirty.

• Francis Steel will provide welding shields, aprons or sleeves, and gloves for students to use during the hands on.

AGE 12 + CLASS OVERVIEW:

·  The class is for ages 12 and older.

·  Classes begin with classroom instruction, which includes instruction in:

o  Various types of welding and welding equipment

o  What to expect in a welding career.

o  Welding safety (for the hands-on part of the class)

·  After the classroom portion, students will be given an opportunity to experience welding “hands on” (All safety gear and applicable training will be provided).

·  Students will be given a brief class session on welding equipment & safety rules followed by an opportunity to experience welding “hands on” (All safety gear and applicable training will be provided).
